The vibrator produces programmable high frequency shear wave signals (5 to 320 Hz) with horizontal orientation. The source is most suitable on paved roads and ideal for urban areas. Depth penetration of this SH vibrator is about 50 to 100 m.
The source consists of a moving mass driven by a cascaded linear motor. Both elements are fully cased and transfer the source energy into the ground by means of frictional coupling. The unit is powered by car batteries providing additional dead load improving the coupling.
An adjustable pneumatic suspension ensures a maximum of seismic energy under all surface conditions.
